Signing Time!

In case you haven’t heard, Signing Time music videos are now on Nick Jr.! Catch “In a House”, “Groove with Me”, and “Feelings” in regular rotation between shows! Yeah! I personally wrote them and begged suggested that they air the full DVD’s.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about….read on!

Anyone who is a long time fan of BabySteals knows that I am a big fan of the Children’s DVD series Signing Time!

I’ve often bragged about how many signs my cute baby Jane knew because of Signing Time. I’m pretty picky about the TV my kids watch – they don’t get much at all (especially when they’re babies and toddlers), but sometimes you just NEED that 20 minutes for them to sit still by you while you finish the dishes (or take a break yourself!) Well, soon after Jane started signing “milk” at 9 months when she was hungry and “more” when she wanted more, I was sold. Pretty soon the whole family (including my older kids) were singing along with Rachel to tunes like “Colors of the Rainbow”:

Signing Time was the only TV show or DVD that kept Jane entertained, yet she (and everyone else in the house) was learning so much at the same time! Bottom line, it helped her communicate with us before she could talk. Thus, less tantrums = happier child. Jane even auditioned to be in Baby Signing Time 4, and got in (view at approx 1:43)! (ok, she got in the crying part. You’ll see when you watch Baby Signing Time 4.) You can even see a few tiny seconds of me (with much longer hair) wiping her tears and opening her can of pears.

See for yourself, here are two cute videos of Jane showing off her signs (hey, every mom thinks their kid is a genius, right? I’m no different!)

Well, now I’ve told you, mom to mom, and BabySteals owner (who’s seen lots of baby products) to BabySteals customer, the ONE thing I wouldn’t ever do without for my babies, is Signing Time. And other moms that work here at BabySteals feel the same way. Now you know! But, don’t take it from me. Signing Time fans, comment and give  moms the scoop!

And consider this a fair warning. Do not, I repeat, do not miss tomorrow’s steal. :)

Hey Babysteals mom’s… Signing is a great way to help teach your babies to communicate with you before they are able to talk. My 10 month old has been signing ‘more’ to me for a few months and gets really excited when I sign to her. For those that are unfamiliar with sign or who find learning from a book too difficult, the signing time videos are a great teaching tool to learn the basics.

I can’t wait to sign with my baby…Even my better half is excited about this steal…You guys rock…

We love Signing Time, and our daughter has watched these videos for over a year now and has memorized more than 4 epsiodes worth of signs and uses them to tell us what she wants or sees or likes. Its totally amazing! Hope i can steal a few that we don’t already own tomorrow. :)

Hey babysteal moms! I just wanted to add that it’s never too late to start signing with your kids. I wanted to sign with my son but I never started until after he was a year old. I had a hard time finding whether or not it was even worth it teaching sign to my son since he already started talking. It was really great that he was older because he picked up the signs so easily. The signs he learned were super useful since he wasn’t able to say the words just yet. I plan on getting these DVDs so my son can interact with my daughter as we start teaching her signs.

I am a huge fan of Signing Time! Four years ago when my son was just a couple months old I knew I was going to teach him to sign. I bought a couple of books and dvds but after the first show we saw of of Signing Time we were hooked! My son took to singing right away and I always had people tell me how well mannered he was and I knew it was because he could communicate even though he couldn’t speak yet. And when he did start talking he spat out full sentences right away. He was way ahead in his verbal skills and I knew again it was from S.T. I can’t say enough good things about it. Even at age four he still loves to rent them from the Library and watch them. We can’t wait to teach his baby sister soon. :) Very much looking forward to tomorrows steal!

Thanks Babysteals!

My husband & I LOVE Baby Signing Time! It’s helped our older son communicate so much with us and we’ve avoided so many tantrums because he can get his point across. He probably now knows at least 50 signs now, all thanks to BST!

I’m so excited for tomorrow’s steal! I’ll be up early for it!

We started teaching my daughter to sign around her first birthday. She is now 28 months old and knows around 100 signs! What really surprised us, though, was that when our daughter was watching Baby Singing Time, our newborn also could not take his eyes off of it! I didn’t even think it was possible for a baby that young to pay such close attention to anything. He loves when I sit him in my lap facing the TV and move his hands to do the same signs on the show. Our daughter also has excellent verbal language skills. She is speaking in 4- to 5-word sentences and is not even 2-1/2 years old. She asks for Baby Signing Time at least as often as her Disney movies. Also, I can frequently be seen singing the songs and dancing around the house to them (even when the TV is off). Which would be embarassing if you could actually hear me sing! We are huge fans!

Whoo Whoo!! My beautiful daughter is also in BST 3 & 4! I can’t say enough fantastic things about ST! Now my baby, who just turned 13 mos, signs milk, all done, jump, I love you, more and sleep. He signed milk and sleep @ 6 mos. We are a ST! family!!!

For those of us who don’t own any yet..which are the best volumes for beginning-signers (just so we know which to snag tomorrow morning)?

Thanks!

Amber December 16th, 2009 at 2:50 am - #11271

Little by little, I’ve collected every DVD ST has released (they can all be geared for age). And every single DVD is worth paying full price for – here we get lucky! I got the first 3 DVDs 10 years ago and girlie #1 started signing at 6 months, talking full sentences by 20 months. Girlie #2 was signing full sentences by 1 1/2 but chose to wait until 2 1/2 to talk – no problem, she started with 5 word sentences. If anything, ST “classes” gave me with another language that I’ve used at least monthly over the last decade meeting people in Lowe’s, Wal-mart, playgrounds, restaurants… who knew!

RACHEL ROCKS!!!! My 1yr old was born with severe hearing loss in her right her and her hearing specialist turned us on to Baby Signing Time last spring. Not only is my little girl a signing machine, my 3 year old has learned a ton of new signs too. I can’t recommend this series highly enough!!! We just caught the Black Friday deal on http://www.signingtime.com to score 5 new DVDs for Christmas and birthdays. I will be not so patiently waiting for 11am to come (EST).

Thank you for what is sure to be another great steal!

Brooke December 16th, 2009 at 5:47 am - #11273

Love the first volume. As that’s all we have :-) Both my husband and I sing the songs after watching the show. We are starting slowly with signs, but haven’t seen any back yet. We want to get more volumes for our daughter.

Geri December 16th, 2009 at 6:40 am - #11274

I used a few that I borrowed with my daughter and she quickly learned how to do “more” and “cookie” (which meant snack or I’m hungry for her). She also recognized when I’d do the sign for “milk” but she didn’t do it back consistently. I’m so excited to get DVDs of my own and hopefully curb the toddler tantrums that have now begun! Thanks Jana! :)

Catherine December 16th, 2009 at 6:46 am - #11275

We LOVE BST!! It’s the only videos my son actually sits for and now he brings us the DVD cases signing more telling us he wants to watch more. He had a few signs by his first birthday and within a month was signing over 20 signs! We have BST 1 & 2 and are hoping to snag 3 & 4 today! Thanks BabySteals!!

Michelle December 16th, 2009 at 7:38 am - #11276

My daughter started watching Baby Signing time when she was 11m old. She started signing “more” & “please” soon after watching. Now, more than 2 years later, we have almost the whole collection and she still signs!

I’m pregnant with my 2nd daughter and can’t wait to start BST with her right away!

Meagan December 16th, 2009 at 7:59 am - #11277

My son has all 4 Baby Signing Time DVDs. He is now 20 months old and knows soooooo many signs. We are receiving Early Intervention for Speech Therapy because he is not saying much at all. If it weren’t for the signs then we would have zero communication. It’s absolutely adorable when he signs “good night” – I think that one is my favorite. Honestly if we didn’t use the signs then I’d never know when he’s thirsty, hungry, all done, tired, cold, etc. The songs are fantastic too. Baby Signing Time is the only TV that my son will actually watch and I love that he’s learning instead of just zoning out!

Amanda Dye December 16th, 2009 at 9:59 am - #11278

We love signing time! whenever our little guy gets upset all we have to do is start singing signing time songs or put on a music video and he gets excited. We’ve been signing with him since birth, he hasn’t done any back but he does recognize them. At 6 months that is a big help, because he can still communicate what he needs just by reacting to the signs.

Cyndi B December 16th, 2009 at 10:05 am - #11279

My niece watched Signing Time since FOREVER…and by the time she was 10 months old she knew over 50 signs. She was also in one of the Signing Time videos (Leah’s Farm…she is one of the cows). Now I have my own little boy who is 4 months old who watches them and loves it and I am working hard on getting him to learn: Milk, all done, and change. I think he is starting to understand what they mean he just can’t do them back to me yet.
BUT I am a BELIEVER in signing with your baby!

Katie December 16th, 2009 at 10:30 am - #11280

We loved and still love signing time. By 13 months my daughter could tell me her colors and shapes by speaking and over 300 signs WHICH SHE ALSO SPOKE THE WORDS ALSO. Signing with your baby does not create mute children…it enhances their ability to communicate and get those connections in their brain firing at an earlier age making it so much easier to make more and more connections with things as they continue to grow. It enhances learning!

Grab this steal if you don’t already have it!

You can’t go wrong with any of them and THESE are great for beginning signs…they have all the basic essentials.

Danielle December 16th, 2009 at 11:22 am - #11281

We have been a Signing Time family for 5 years. My son started signing at 7 months old. At a year he could sign over 50 signs and By the time he was 18 months old, he could speak over 150 words. His younger brother was also verbal at a very early age and signed at 8 months. Now we have a little 7 month old who loves ST, too. It is the only media I allow our kids to watch before age 18 months. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this series.

Do you want to feel uplifted today? Give yourself a treat and go to the ST website and read the story of ST creator. She is an inspiring mom.

Danielle December 16th, 2009 at 11:24 am - #11282

oh…and the other fantastic thing about this series is that it utilizes real ASL signs, not made up signs, so your baby is learning a second language.

Geri December 16th, 2009 at 3:05 pm - #11283

So excited for this! This was the perfect set for me! Really surprised it hasn’t sold out yet, so you all must have tons!

Lauren December 16th, 2009 at 3:23 pm - #11284

Very excited to receive Signing Time. I’d been looking at this online and was so surprised to find it on here! Thanks! Loving your website!

Lisa December 16th, 2009 at 3:24 pm - #11285

Not only are the videos awesome because my son learned to sign before he could speak and because they keep his attention longer than anything else, but now that he DOES speak, he’s learning all kinds of new words from the DVDs. They totally rock!

Jaclyn December 16th, 2009 at 4:18 pm - #11286

we absolutely LOVE Signing Time, BST, EVERYTHING Two Little Hands Productions put out is STELLAR! First got Signing Tie when our daughter was 9 months old (4 years ago). We own absolutely everything product they have put out and are CONSTANTLY turning people on to this program. My daughter KNOWS soooo many signs and has been a major roll in teaching our son how to sign as well. He turns 2 tomorrow, his first sign was at 8 months old and he knows just about everything in the videos (all 32 of them!) as we all sign all the time. People regularly comment about how well behaved our children are and how they communicate with eachother using sign. LOVE it!

Suzette December 16th, 2009 at 11:32 pm - #11287

I am so happy to be introduced to this today. I haven’t heard about Signing Times until I read this post last night. After seeing Jana’s cute daughter sign in those videos I spent my evening on Signing Times website reading all about their products and watching videos on you tube. I feel like there is a whole world I have been missing out on for so long after reading everyone’s posts! I can’t wait to start signing with my son who just turned 7 months old yesterday. I bought this set today and I can’t wait to learn signs to teach my son and start a collection of videos. Santa is done. What an inspiration the company already is to me, hopefully my son will cry less…lol. THANK YOU babysteals for introducing me to these amazing products! I have been missing out.

I just got some of the signing time dvd’s for my little man for Christmas. Can’t wait to use them. He already knows a few signs from me and books.
